General Information
Introduction
The Friday Bun Society was officially founded in May 2005, but the roots of the society are in the events that happened a couple of months before this historical moment. Ever since, the number of Society Members has been steadily growing (at least the Members themselves have been), and we are slowly turning into a notable force in the bun consumption business.
We are here to form a solid base for the people who desire Friday Buns. Until now, there have been no formal definitions, organized actions, or even any kind of research done in this area. We, the Founders of the Society, found this situation intolerable. It used to be that anyone, anywhere, at any given day, could just decide to go and eat a Friday Bun. Luckily, we are slowly seeing that our efforts are starting to bring some order into this chaos.
What is a Friday Bun?
It would be too easy just to say what a Friday Bun is, so you’ll get some background information instead. Usually, the last day of the week is where the current week ends (this custom is remarkably common around the world). In many countries, the end of the week is called a ‘weekend’. For many, this ‘weekend’ is a moment of partying and/or resting, and offers some quality time outside the office, carage, olive farm, factories that produce tiny green plastic toys, or whatever happens to be the location where one pretends to be working. The day just prior to the ‘weekend’ often gets extra attention and good spirits because of this fact – everyone is already waiting for the ‘weekend’.
Because of these highly positive feelings, it’s not rare that people working at the place form a small group, and then share their enthusiasm with each other, either by just not working for a short period of time, or, as if the next step of evolution, not working AND having a bun, accompanied with a cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, water, or some other consumable liquid that matches with buns. It’s this Special Bun, the Bun of Excitement, the Bun Before the Weekend, the Bun We Were Waiting the Whole Week For, which is called a Friday Bun by the Society.
Our Mission
As mentioned earlier, there haven’t been any rules or guidelines for Friday Bunning so far. Our mission is to change this. We are here to tell people about Friday Buns, to eat Friday Buns, and to organize the way of eating Friday Buns.
The Plan
- Eat Buns
- ???
- Profit!
